Hi my dear friends

I'm speaking to all of you as well as to my US sisters and brothers off of this election. I've been trying to put words together to write to this list about the election of Donald Trump and then I read Gwen Brown's piece on the Raised Poor list and thought I would send that as well as reach out to all of you today.

First and foremost -- connect with each other. This is what we need to do now and forever--build stronger, permanent, resilient bonds with each other and everyone we come in contact with. That's how we'll figure out how to move ourselves and others forward through these times and beyond. There's much work to be done but these connections and discharge have to come first
and throughout everything we do.

We white people have been severely hurt here -- we get to challenge every way we've been limited in reaching out to each other, to white people who have very different views of the world and, of course to GM and N-I people. And we need to learn from what happened in this election around racism, sexism and classism among other oppressions. What we need and the work we've done and keep needing to do around these oppressions is key to what we do in this next period. Our work is more important than ever. Don't let discouragement, hopelessness and feeling bad about ourselves persuade you otherwise.

I'll end here but I encourage all of us to add our voices on this list in the direction of unity and knowing each other. For US'ers on this list--what are you thinking, discharging on,  trying.  Those from outside the US -- what can you teach us or remind us of. And so on.

Much love, Dvora Slavin
