UER Activities in Australia
Blue Mountains, Australia — September 2001
Mary Waterford (New South Wales, Australia) held a public event on the weekend of the UN World Conference Against Racism that had a panel of people of different cultures talking from their own experience, followed by small circles that allowed everyone attending to share their thinking. She submitted press releases to the local paper, along with information on the UN World Conference, emphasizing that in small communities and in large cities all over the world gatherings like this were happening to encourage ordinary people to think and act against racism. It was attended by seventy people, and three ongoing groups were formed.
