The 2022 Guidelines for the
Re-evaluation Counseling Communities
The printed version of the 2022 Guidelines for the Re-evaluation Counseling Communities is now available! (You can read the online version on the RC website at <www.rc.org/publication/guidelines_2022/contents>.)
This 2022 version contains many important changes. Here are a few of them:
- We’ve updated the language so our RC ideas are more easily understood by everyone, including people not in RC.
- We’ve clarified our commitment to inclusion and diversity in our leadership and Community building.
- We’ve been more explicit about our expectations of leaders and how we handle mistakes.
- We’ve created new Guidelines for satellite and hybrid workshops and on reducing the carbon footprint of our workshops.
- We’ve changed the pseudonym policy so that the requirement for writing anonymously applies only to LGBTQ+ people, and people in some other groups, who live in countries with legal systems that permit persecution of those groups or whose writing contains information that would otherwise put them in danger.
- We’ve expanded protections for our security and privacy online.
- We’ve strengthened our Guideline that addresses mistakes, disagreements, and criticism and the acting out of oppressor patterns.
- We’ve added a process for addressing sexual misconduct in the RC Community.
- We’ve required that young people have parental consent for participating in RC classes, ongoing support groups, and workshops.
- We’ve added a Guideline on handling disruptions within the RC Community.
Our Guidelines, including these 2022 changes, are an impressive result of many Co-Counselors’ experience and best thinking. Be sure to get your copy! It will also be included in the next RC Teacher Packet.
