In the Present

I see you as you were born
knowing everything
on the path to fulfillment
surrounded by minefields

I see you as you have survived
behind the masked puppet
with ghosts working the strings
pretending they still live

I see you behind the murky glass
the invisible prison's scars of ancient pain
your brilliance shining through
still knowing all the old things

Let us cut each other's strings
exorcise every ghost
take away the glass
flood each other in zest

Let us be here now
and live each piece of now
as if there were no past

completely close
