Choose to Look at It
I just read the piece in the April Present Time about developing a policy for people targeted for destruction by society and the article on survivors of prostitution. I believe that as we figure out how to think about the people our current system would destroy and discard, our understanding of the unacceptable nature of the capitalist system will move ahead. It's hard to look at the system because it is so painfully violent, so harsh. I often want to avoid thinking about it-I have enough comfort and privilege that I can choose not to look at it. But I think it is absolutely right and very important that the RC Community has been challenged to take this on.
