K. ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS, THE INTERNET, AND PRIVACY
K.2. THE RC COMMUNITY WEBSITES
The RC Community's Website
The RC Community's website, rc.org, supports the International RC Community in the following ways:
- Makes information about RC theory and practice available
- Makes forms and resources for classes and workshops available
- Distributes RC literature and other items through Rational Island Publishers
- Gives information about RC theory and practice as well as guidance to people who would otherwise lack access to it
- Provides easy access to translated articles (see Guideline J.5. Translations of Publications).
The RC Community's website is publicly accessible.
The RC Community's website only has links to other websites when the links are authorized by the IRP. People should not link non-RC websites to RC websites (see Guideline K.3. Local RC Community Websites) unless their non-RC website is about projects associated with RC and they have the International Reference Person’s (IRP’s) consent to do this.
The “New-to-RC” and "What is Re-evaluation Counseling?" Websites
The “New-to-RC” website, reevaluationcounseling.org, has easily accessible introductory information about RC. Co-Counselors are encouraged to direct people who are new to RC to this website. The "What is Re-evaluation Counseling?" website, listeningwell.info, provides general information, some introductory articles and videos, stories of people’s experiences in RC, and answers questions people have had about RC.
REASON
The Internet is used by billions of people worldwide. It is an important tool for the communication of RC theory and practice.
The RC Community's website facilitates the day-to-day operations of the International RC Community, such as the organizing of events.
We avoid linking to other websites to prevent RC from being associated or confused with other groups and efforts. We also do this for the following reasons:
- It gives people the best chance to understand RC for what it is—a logically consistent, unique system of thought and practice.
- It ensures that our one-point program (see Guideline A.3. The One-Point Program of the RC Community) is not compromised by the appearance of association with other groups.
This separate “New-to-RC” website, reevaluationcounseling.org, and the "What is Re-evaluation Counseling?" website, listeningwell.info, give people access to well-organized introductory information about RC and do so without overwhelming them with the large amount of information on the RC Community's website.
