I. COMMUNICATING ABOUT RE-EVALUATION COUNSELING OUTSIDE THE RE-EVALUATION COUNSELING COMMUNITY

I.2. Activities Outside the RC Community

One purpose of RC activities outside of the RC Community is to communicate RC theory and practice to people outside of the RC Community. We also learn from and build alliances with other individuals and groups who are also working for human liberation.

Activities and presentations of Re-evaluation Counseling (RC) to be given outside the RC Community that use the name “Re-evaluation Counseling” or the term “RC,” must have the approval of the Regional Reference Person (RRP) or International Liberation or Commonality Reference Person (ILRP or ICRP), in consultation with the International Reference Person (IRP). This approval must be obtained well in advance of the activity.  (See Guideline B.3. Use of the Terms “Re-evaluation Counseling” and “RC.”)

RC projects outside of the RC Community for ending racism, for women’s liberation, care of the environment, and Jewish liberation are to be done under the following names: United to End Racism (UER), No Limits for Women (No Limits), Sustaining All Life (SAL), and Jews and Allies United to End Antisemitism. These projects require the agreement of the RRP, in consultation with the IRP.

The no-socializing policy applies to relationships formed through these projects and can help us think about the people we meet. (See Guideline M.1. The No-Socializing Policy.)

REASON

These measures will help ensure the consistent and thoughtful presentation of RC. When Co-Counselors participate in RC projects outside of the RC Community, their goal is to teach and share RC with people they wish to work alongside and learn from.  We initiate these relationships to give people RC tools, build alliances in our common work, and possibly build Co-Counseling relationships. The no-socializing policy helps keep the purpose of these relationships clear. New Co-Counselors are also less confused about our Guidelines if they decide to join an RC Community.
