F. ACHIEVING CORRECT POSITIONS AND MAKING DECISIONS

F.1.  Achieving Correct Positions on Issues

We encourage Co-Counselors to think about all issues facing humanity, including the most controversial ones, and to arrive at correct, intelligent positions—factually-based, and as free of distress as possible. We develop policies at special conferences and workshops, in our publications, and on email discussion lists. They are draft policies and are revised as our thinking improves with more discharge and experience. They are not binding on anyone, even if everyone in RC is in complete agreement with them.

Reason

Part of our work to liberate our minds from the effect of distresses is to challenge the limitations that distresses put on our thinking and functioning in the present. Encouraging ourselves to venture into areas we have avoided because of distresses has shown itself to be an important way to speed up our re-emergence.

As our thinking develops, we as individuals will want to speak out or take action. At the same time, we preserve the basic unity of our Community by requiring agreement on only the one point described in Guideline A.3. The One-Point Program of the RC Community.
