Sustaining All Life/United to End Racism

COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt

November 6-13, 2022

The United Nations talks on climate change (COPs) happened in Egypt from November 7 through November 18.  Sustaining All Life and United to End Racism (SAL/UER) were present the first week to do in-person workshops, forums, and more.  The second week we held four workshops online and two members of our delegation also presented to talk to people, referred them to our online events, and did what two people can figure out to do there in person.

Thank you for supporting us in so many ways: by attending our practice events online, helping us present our events online, fundraising for us, and in so many other ways.  We welcomed your support over those few weeks in the following ways.

In-Person Events Offered

We asked co-counselors if they knew people attending the COP to talk to them about SAL/UER and encouraged them to check us out while they were there.  We had a booth in both the Blue Zone (governmental area) and the Green Zone (civil society area).  Information about the in-person events, including a flyer of our events that you could be download and sent to them, posted on the SAL and RC websites.

Online Events Offered the Week of November 14

The second week of COP27 we had 4 online events scheduled.  These events are targeted at people who are at the COP and interested in supporting the work of the COP.  We encourage RCers to bring a friend to these events.  If you bring a friend and attend the event, it will go best if you give your friend at least a little introduction to RC and the work of SAL/UER before the event.  Any RCer at the event should primarily be there to support those people attending who are new to RC and learning about SAL, UER, RC, and racism at this event.  This means warmly greeting anyone you are paired with in a mini (whether you speak the same language or not).  And it means coming as counselors to the new people who will be there, and only discharging in ways that will make sense for the new person. Flyer for the online events is here.
