SPECTRUM OF TECHNIQUES

If the ways of working on your client's problem are arranged in the order of increasing demand on his or her attention, you will have an understandable framework on which to work.

The advantages of this procedure are many:

First, you can begin with any client at the lightest technique level, work effectively there, and progress to a heavier or more demanding technique in series only when each previous one has worked satisfactorily. You can then feel quite able to retreat to the preceding technique if any given level proves unworkable. In this manner, the risks of over-restimulation can be kept very low. Any over-investment of attention that occurs can be gotten away from quickly.
